Our Lady Queen of Peace Youth Ministry is open to youth in grades 6 – 12. The focus of Youth Ministry is to:
Build community within our parish among the youth
Provide an opportunity to learn about the Catholic faith and grow spiritually
Socialize with peers through various fun activities
Provide service/outreach experience to Our Lady Queen of Peace community and beyond. 8th graders can use service hours towards Confirmation & many high schoolers may use service opportunities toward service hour requirements.
Engage the youth in liturgical ministry, such as altar servers, lectors, cantors, etc.
What is Youth Ministry?
“Youth ministry is the response of the Christian community to the needs of young people, and the sharing of the unique gifts of the youth with the larger community.” Renewing the Vision: A Framework for Catholic youth Ministry.” USCCB, 1997, p.1 (quoting A Vision of Youth Ministry, 1976). Youth Ministry aims to offer a faith-filled environment for young people as they grow. Through social, service, spiritual, & leadership opportunities, youth will be empowered to live as disciples of Christ.
