can teach everyone about the love that saves us; they can become

heralds of a new world, no longer dominated by force, violence and

aggression, but by love, solidarity and acceptance, a new world transfigured

by the light of Christ, the Son of God who became incarnate,

Fixing Health Care a Legislative Goal of U.S. Bishops:

In a recent letter to Congress, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo, Chairman

of the U.S. Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life Activities, said with

PPACA (the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act) was an

important step toward ensuring access to health coverage for all

Americans but was “profoundly flawed in its treatment of

abortion, conscience rights, and fairness to immigrant.” ………”

Efforts to ensure that our health care system truly serves the life,

health and conscience of all will be a legislative goal of the

Catholic bishops in the months to come.” For the full text of the

letter please go to http://www.usccb.org/comm/archives/2010/10-

103.shtml. The US bishops, through the NCHLA are supporting

the passage of Corrective Legislation. On April 22, Rep. Joseph

P i t t s ( R - P A ) i n t roduced l e g i s l a t i on (H. R. 5 1 1 1 )

to remedy PPACA’s serious problems on abortion. Among

others, the bill would prevent PPACA from requiring

a b o r tion coverage or paying for abor t io n .

Independence Day Novena: Prayer is the foundation of all

we do in the pro-life movement. Join thousands of others by

offering each day a prayer of commitment to build a culture

of life. This novena from Priests for Life begins on

June 26th through Independence Day.

God our Father, your Son Jesus spoke to us a message

Of peace and taught us to live as brothers and sisters.

His message took form in the vision

of our Founding Fathers,

as they fashioned a nation

where all people might live as one.

This message lives on in our midst as a task for us today

and a promise for tomorrow.

We thank you, Father, for your blessings in the past,

And for all that, with your help, we must yet achieve.

Bless our nation and bless each of us.

As we celebrate our independence,

may we extend its blessings

to our youngest brothers and sisters,

the children in the womb.

Hasten the day when our nation will be a

nation with liberty and justice, not just for some,

but for all, though Christ our Lord. Amen.
